Golisano Foundation and UR Launch New Institute for Innovative Transition

Let the Games Begin in Rochester! Golisano Foundation is Premier Sponsor of Special Olympics New York 2012/2013 Winter Games
Nov 11, 2011 – Rochester, New York has been awarded the bid to host the the 2012 and 2013 State Special Olympics Winter Games. The Golisano Foundaiton is the premier sponsor. Winter Games is one of three annual state games and more than 3,500 competitions held annually across New York. Nearly 850 athletes and coaches will attend. Read more

July14, 2011 – Rochester entrepreneur, philanthropist, and champion of children's health, B. Thomas Golisano, today surprised an audience of over 200 onlookers by announcing a $20 million gift to Golisano Children’s Hospital - $2 million more than University and Medical Center leaders expected. With this gift, the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) announced plans to build a new $134 million Golisano Children’s Hospital dedicated to the care of sick and injured youngsters. Golisano Foundation Awards $440,000 to Happiness House/Finger Lakes Cerebral Palsy Association to Open Transitional Residence for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities & Traumatic Brain Injury 
May 20, 2011 – Happiness House is pleased to announce a partnership with the Golisano Foundation to support the construction of a 5,300 square foot eight person transitional residences equipped with eight efficiency apartments in Canandaigua. This “one of a kind” transitional home will assist in serving three young adults with disabilities and five adults with TBI. Read more

WXXI and Al Sigl Community of Agencies Host the Ninth Annual Dialogue on Disability Initiative
