Foundation Awards Grants in October
The Golisano Foundation awarded $2,259,000 in grants in October to the following organizations:
Abilities Movement
$15,000 towards program expansion to improve health/fitness for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through adapted fitness and sports, personal training, community-based group fitness classes, and outdoor programming.
Arc of Monroe County -
$300,000 towards the Aging with Grace, Aging in Place Initiative to construct two fully accessible ranch homes for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities supported by the Arc of Monroe.
Best Buddies
$250,000 ($150,000 for year 1, $100,000 for year 2) to be used towards the Pre-Employment Training Program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Western New York and Southwest Florida.
Gliding Stars
$20,000 towards the Adaptive Ice-Skating program for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Buffalo and Rochester, NY.
KEYS
$5,000 towards the KEYS Music Therapy Outreach program for children with disabilities to enhance and improve their quality of life through the joy of music.
Rochester City Ballet
$4,000 towards the production of the 2022 Nutcracker performance making it more inclusive and accessible for children with disabilities.
Squeaky Wheel Film & Media Art Center
$15,000 to support the DATA program for young adults with autism spectrum disorder, an art and technology education program teaching media art and social skills to further life and career goals.
WXXI Public Broadcasting
$1,650,000 ($330,000/yr. for 5 years) to support the continuation and expansion of the Move to Include (MTI) multi-media initiative to other stations across the country to increase engagement and impact on issues, experiences, and perspectives of the disability community.

Bailey and Friends awarded grants totaling $60,100 to the following organizations in October:
Cape Coral Animal Shelter
$12,000 towards the purchase of kennels, surgical instruments, and medications and vaccinations that expired due to Hurricane Ian.
Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA
$5,700 to be used towards the purchase of an autoclave, ultrasonic cleaner, and additional surgical equipment necessary to grow the TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) Program.
Humane Society Naples
$6,000 to be used towards the Operation Rescue Program which provides free emergency pet boarding for pet owners facing financial hardship, hospitalization, displacement, and or impacts from natural disasters.
Humane Society of Yates County
$10,000 to support spay and neuter services as well as surgical materials and supplies for the shelter’s in-house veterinary clinic.
Meals of Hope
$6,000 to purchase dog and cat food for distribution to food-insecure families and pet-serving agencies in Collier and Lee Counties.
ROC The Dogs Rescue
$5,000 to be used towards veterinary costs for spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and emergency surgeries as well as to purchase supplies for foster families.
SPCA Serving Erie County
$8,000 towards the OASIS (Owned Animal Subsidy and Intervention Service) Program which provides necessary veterinary care for pets whose owners face financial and accessibility barriers.
Wyoming County SPCA
$7,400 to be used towards the installation of new lighting fixtures for the cat and dog shelter areas.
