Services for Individuals with Disabilities 2001
Consistent with our primary funding focus, the Foundation supported a wide range of programs for individuals with disabilities, a self-help support group, alternative learning environments and educational techniques, adaptive equipment, and recreational opportunities. All funded program share the Foundation's goal of providing services in an environment that emphasizes the dignity of every person, and creating opportunities for people with disablities to be part of their general communities.

Education/Prevention
Education and learning takes many forms, from the more traditional institutes of higher education, to community based programs that strengthen and support families. Last year, the Golisano Foundation Supported a variety of "educational" programs designed to enhance individual achievement, teach new skills, and help young people make positive, healthy choices.

The Foundation funded a variety of programs providing assistance to individuals and families in the community. The programs share the Foundation's goal of helping individuals grow and develop their full potential and lead healthy, productive lives.

$50,000 to renovate food distribution warehouse

Interfaith Action
$30,000 for the "Raise a Roof" initiative promoting home ownership and neighborhood revitalization

Politics of Food Program
$5,000 for a food delivery truck

Rochester Landscape Technician Program
$5,000 for employment and training program

Salvation Army - Rochester Area
$7,000 for camp scholarships for needy children

Spiritus Christi Prison Outreach
$10,000 for counseling and support for incarcerated women

St Joseph's Neighborhood Center
$10,000 for building renovation and equipment for neighborhood health clinic


Senior Services/Health Care
The Golisano Foundation supported several programs designed to help senior citizens remain independent in their homes and comforable in assisted living arrangements. The Foundation also funded health care services for those who are sick and may be without support from family or friends.

$10,000 to support harm reduction/syringe exchange program

$5,000 to support hospice services for the terminally ill

Mercy Center with the Aging
$7,800 for the “Care for the Caregiver" support program

Serenity House of Victor
$20,000 for comfort care equipment for  the terminally ill

Sisters of Mercy
$10,000 for equipment upgrade

Sisters of St Josephs
$11,000 for Sisters Care - a home health service for the elderly and disabled
