Tom Golisano demonstrates ongoing generosity and commitment to the greater Rochester, New York community, home of Paychex corporate headquarters, and other organizations in Upstate and Western New York, and Southwest Florida.
A fierce advocate for dignity and inclusion, in 1985, Golisano applied his pioneering spirit to establish the Golisano Foundation to make the world a better place for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. With more than $120 million in gross assets, it is one of the largest private foundations in the U.S devoted to supporting programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, awarding $3 to 5 million annually to non-profit organizations in Western New York and Southwest Florida.
In addition to the Golisano Foundation’s contributions, Mr. Golisano has been very generous to other institutions and organizations. Since the late 1990s Mr. Golisano’s and the Golisano Foundation’s philanthropy totals more than $860 million. He has dedicated more than $145 million to advancing inclusive health around the world, including $67 million to Special Olympics, helping to close the significant gap in access to care for people with intellectual disabilities. His largest single gift outside donations to the Foundation, is $50 million made to the University of Rochester Medical Center in June 2024 to establish the new Golisano Institute for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
In September 2024, Mr. Golisano announced an unprecedented and historic series of major gifts totaling $360 million to 82 non-profit organizations in Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse, New York. This commitment doubled Golisano’s lifetime personal giving.
On November 19, 2024, Mr Golisano announced a second series of major gifts totaling $85 million to 41 nonprofit organizations across Southwest Florida. The awards, which ranged from $150,000 to $10 million each, were made to a diverse range of causes, all meaningful to Mr. Golisano. They span healthcare, education, disability services, other critical community needs and animal welfare. The gifts will be paid over four to five years, are unrestricted and may be used at each organization’s discretion.

American Red Cross - Greater Rochester Chapter
On September 17, 2024, Tom Golisano announced a gift of $5 million to the American Red Cross – Greater Rochester Chapter. The gift is unrestricted.
The Greater Rochester Chapter serves the counties of Allegany, Cayuga, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates.
Clinton Global Initiative
Tom Golisano was the Major Underwriter of the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting held in September between 2005-2013. The annual meeting held in New York City is a non-partisan effort to bring together community of global leaders to devise and implement solutions to some of world’s most pressing challenges including global health.
On September 23, 2012, former President William J. Clinton announced that businessman and philanthropist Tom Golisano will provide $12 million to expand Special Olympics’ health-related services to people with intellectual disabilities—one of the largest and most medically underserved disability groups in the world. This funded the launch of a new Healthy Communities initiative. The commitment was made at the opening of the 2012 Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting held in New York City.
Daystar Kids
On September 17, 2024, Tom Golisano announced a gift of $5 million to Daystar Kids. The gift is unrestricted.
Daystar Kids is New York State’s only Pediatric Complex Care and Learning Center, helping families successfully transition their infant or young child with complex medical conditions from the hospital to home and support their healthy development all the way until they enroll in kindergarten.
Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida at Lee Health
On November 19, 2024, Mr. Golisano announced an unrestricted gift of $10 million to Golisano Children’s Hospital in Southwest, Florida.
In October 2012, Tom Golisano announced a $20 million matching gift to build a new children’s hospital, which will be named Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. Golisano challenged the community to raise $20 million, which he matched dollar for dollar for each contribution. Golisano’s matching gift of $20 million was the single largest philanthropic gift in The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida‘s history.
At the announcement, Golisano said “This gift comes as my personal commitment to help Lee Memorial Health System build a hospital where all children in Southwest Florida will receive the best possible care close to home. I hope this gift helps leverage support from others in the region and motivates everyone to contribute in a meaningful way to this important endeavor.”
On December 10, 2013 Tom Golisano donated $20 million to launch the campaign for the Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida capital campaign in partnership with Lee Memorial Health System Foundation celebrating a community commitment of more than $80 million in donations and pledges toward its $100 million.
The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida is part of Lee Memorial Health System and is located on the HealthPark Medical Campus. It is the only comprehensive children’s hospital between St. Petersburg and Miami.
Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center
In April 2002, Mr. Golisano contributed $14 million to Strong Children’s Hospital in Rochester, NY, enabling the hospital to begin a comprehensive fundraising campaign. In honor of the gift, the hospital, which is part of the University of Rochester Medical Center, is now known as Golisano Children’s Hospital.
In July 2011, Mr. Golisano provided a $20 million gift to expand and modernize the existing Golisano Children’s Hospital enabling the University of Rochester Medical Center to construct a new next-generation hospital for children. This gift, along with a previous gift of $14 million in 2002, totals $34 million to the Children’s Hospital.
On May 27, 2015 the new Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center was dedicated.
Mr. Golisano’s combined gifts are the largest ever given to the Children’s Hospital or the University of Rochester Medical Center by a living donor.
Golisano Center for Restorative Neurology and Rehabilitation at Rochester Regional Health
In April 2010, Mr. Golisano supported the creation of a new Center for Restorative Neurology and Rehabilitation at Unity Health System in Rochester, NY, with a gift of $10 million. The Center will serve adults and children in need of both inpatient and outpatient care for conditions that range from brain and spinal cord injuries to joint replacements to diseases such as multiple sclerosis
Golisano Hope Lodge and Hospitality House
In June 2008, Mr. Golisano announced a gift of $4 million to the American Cancer Society and Colgate Rochester Crozier Divinity School to establish a new Hope Lodge and Hospitality House to accommodate cancer and transplant patients and their families from area and regional hospitals.
In September 2024, Mr. Golisano announced a $2 million unrestricted gift to Hope Lodge.
Golisano Medical Oncology Center at NFMMC
Niagara now has another Golisano Center – one in which lives will be saved and where inclusive health is a priority. Tom Golisano committed $1.5 million on November 20, 2019 to support the new $2 million medical oncology center at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center to improve access to cancer treatment for people in Niagara County. The new center was dedicated in a virtual ceremony on July 16, 2020 and is open to patients. The Center is operated by Memorial in affiliation with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of the top cancer centers in the United States. The $2 new Golisano Medical Oncology Center makes Roswell’s expertise – including immunotherapy, hematology, chemotherapy infusion, clinical trials and the newest cancer curing drugs – readily accessible to those who live and work in Niagara County. The 6,085-square-foot facility is located on Memorial’s fourth floor. The new Center also provides cancer care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, a population that often falls through the cracks of complex health care systems, and specialty care including early detection, cancer screening and treatment.
B. Thomas Golisano Pavilion and Emergency Center at Rochester General Hospital
In March 2005, Mr. Golisano continued his commitment to health care with a $9 million gift to Rochester General Hospital (part of Rochester Regional Health), helping to establish the B. Thomas Golisano Pavilion and Emergency Center.
Golisano Children's Museum of Naples
Mr. Golisano made a challenge grant of $5 million in May 2010 for the new Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples, which opened in March 2012 in Naples, Florida. The 30,000-square-foot Museum features ten spectacularly designed, child-scaled exhibits to invite sensory and intellectual exploration.
Mercy Flight
In October 2006, Mr. Golisano donated $1.5 million to Mercy Flight Central of Canandaigua, NY, helping to kickoff the drive to purchase a new Mercy Flight helicopter.

Naples Comprehensive Health
On November 19, 2024, Mr. Golisano announced an unrestricted gift of $5 million to Naples Comprehensive Health. NCH (Naples Comprehensive Health) is a locally governed non-profit and an Advanced Community Health System™ located in Naples, Florida. Our mission is to help everyone live a longer, happier, healthier life. The System is more than just two hospitals (referred to as the NCH Baker Hospital and NCH North Hospital) with a total of 713 beds. NCH is an alliance of more than 1,100 physicians and medical facilities in dozens of locations throughout Southwest Florida that offers nationally recognized, quality health care to our community.
On June 20, 2023 Tom Golisano announced a $5 million match grant to the Naples Community Hospital R.M. Schulze Family Cardiovascular and Stroke Critical Care Center, which is home to the NCH Rooney Heart Institute and NCH Wingard Stroke Institute. The facility will serve as a premier destination for comprehensive cardiovascular and stroke care in the region, providing advanced treatment options and cutting-edge research opportunities. Construction of the new facility that will stand where the Telford Building is located today, is projected to break ground later this year/early 2024 following city approval of the project. Construction of the new building is expected to take 12 months with the first patients cared for in spring 2026. The facility is expected to serve thousands of patients each year, providing life-saving care and innovative research opportunities.
Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center
On September 17, 2014, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center received a $3.5 million gift, the largest in its history, from businessman and philanthropist Tom Golisano to support construction of an innovative new Golisano Center for Community Health. The Center will provide comprehensive integrated health care services to adults with special needs and their families, breaking down barriers to care, preventing individuals from falling through the cracks and helping them live with dignity. It is one of the few centers of its kind in the country.

On September 17, 2024, Mr. Golisano announced a donation of $10 million to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. The gift is the largest he has made to Memorial and it is unrestricted. Joe Ruffolo, President and CEO of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, told WKBW, “Here is a man, single-handedly who has touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. The gift is a catalyst that will allow Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center to expand healthcare access both in Niagara Falls and throughout Niagara County.”
Oishei Children's Hospital of Buffalo
On September 17, 2024, Tom Golisano announced a gift of $10 million to Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, NY. This was Mr. Golisano’s first donation to the hospital, and it is the largest single gift Oishei has ever received from an individual.
The hospital said, “We are overwhelmed to be the recipient of this monumental gift! With Tom Golisano’s gift, we will make a profound and lasting impact FOR our patients, families, and care teams.”
Oishei is the only stand-alone children’s hospital in New York State, and one of only 43 in the country.
In addition to having a brand new, state-of-the-art facility with new technology, Oishei Children’s Hospital is part of the growing Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus and is connected to other medical partners, Buffalo General Medical Center, Gates Vascular Institute and Oishei Children’s Outpatient center, allowing Western New York’s medical leaders to work together and share resources to make certain each patient is receiving the best possible care.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester, NY
On September 17, 2024, Tom Golisano announced a gift of $2 million for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester, NY. The gift is unrestricted.

Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital
In November 2005, Mr. Golisano donated $6 million to Central New York Children’s Hospital at University Hospital in Syracuse, NY. In honor of the gift, the hospital was renamed the Golisano Children’s Hospital of Central New York at University Hospital. This was the largest gift ever from an individual donor in SUNY history.
On September 17, 2024, Mr. Golisano announced a gift of $10 million to Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, his largest gift to the hospital. The gift coincided with the Hospital’s 15th anniversary.
Executive Director of Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital Gregory Conners, MD, MPH, MBA, who also serves as chair of Pediatrics, said Golisano’s gift is magical. “Tom has been with us every step of the way in our journey to provide the best care for our kids. The Golisano name is synonymous with great pediatric care, and I cannot thank him enough for his support.”
Special Olympics Health
On September 16, 2021, Special Olympics announced it received $30 million, its largest single private gift in the organization’s 53-year history, from Tom Golisano. This is Tom’s third major gift to Special Olympics. His first gift of $12 million was made in 2012 and announced at Clinton Global Initiative. His second major gift of $25 million was presented in 2015. His support for Special Olympics Health now totals $67 million.
Funds will expand the Special Olympics Healthy Communities program, which provides health services globally for people with intellectual disabilities (ID), a population that has been critically underserved, especially during the pandemic. “I am pleased to continue financial support for Special Olympics’ extraordinary health work, which is giving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities improved access to health services and the opportunity to live happier, more productive lives,” said Golisano. “Special Olympics’ impact on the health of people with ID is impressive – as is its strategy on how to build on this success over the next several years. Alfred State College
On September 17, 2024, Tom Golisano announced an unrestricted gift of $5 million to Alfred State College, his alma mater. This is the largest gift the college has ever received.

On September 17, 2024, Tom Golisano announced an unrestricted gift of $5 million to Allendale Columbia School in Pittsford, NY.

Aquinas Institute of Rochester
On September 17, 2024, Tom Golisano announced an unrestricted gift of $5 million to Aquinas Institute of Rochester, NY.

Ave Maria University
On November 19, 2024, Mr. Golisano made his second gift to Ave Maria University, an unrestricted donation of $5 million. Ave Maria University is committed to providing a liberal arts curriculum based on Catholic principles and thought. We strive to enlighten students intellectually and spiritually, to prepare them for a life well lived.
Mr. Golisano made his first gift to an organization outside New York State in November 2009 to Ave Maira University. His gift of $4 million to Ave Maria University in Ave Maria, Florida, funded the construction of the University’s first indoor athletic facility, the Tom Golisano Field House.
Bishop Kearney High School
In March 2006, Mr. Golisano gave $3 million to Bishop Kearney High School. The gift represented the largest donation ever received at that time from an individual or family by the private school located in Rochester.
In May 2011, Tom Golisano provided $1.5 million to support the Capital Campaign at Mercy High School to upgrade buildings and athletic fields and facilities. The Science Wing was named for Mr. Golisano.
On September 17, 2024, Mr. Golisano announced a gift of $5 million to Bishop Kearney. The gift is unrestricted.
Canisius University
On September 17, 2024, Canisius University received a transformative $5 million gift from Tom Golisano.

Guadalupe Center
On November 19, 2024, Mr. Golisano announced an unrestricted gift of $3 million to the Guadalupe Center. The Center’s mission is to break the cycle of poverty through education and is reaching more than 1,901 students per year with three extraordinarily successful educational programs. Since 1984, Guadalupe Center has been achieving this mission and making a significant difference for students and families of Immokalee through three extraordinarily successful programs. These include Early Childhood Education, After-school Tutoring and Summer Enrichment, and Tutor Corps.
Hartwick College
In July of 2004, he made a $5 million gift to Hartwick College of Oneonta, NY, which will be used to build a new academic building for the social science and management programs.
Hope Hall School
On September 17, 2024, Tom Golisano announced a gift of $3 million for Hope Hall School in Rochester, NY. The gift is unrestricted.
Established in 1994, Hope Hall School provides an opportunity for educationally marginalized children to become successful lifelong learners. Serving students in grades 3 through 12 from school districts across the Greater Rochester Area, Hope Hall’s nurturing, non-threatening, creative atmosphere encourages students to take risks in learning. It helps them reverse the cycle of academic failure. Its collaborative approach to learning connects faculty, staff and families as team members in a community of learning. The school boasts a consistent 100% graduation rate with students who are prepared for college, the workforce, post-secondary career training programs, and/or 18-21 transition programs.
McQuaid Jesuit
On September 17, 2024, Tom Golisano announced a gift of $5 million for McQuaid Jesuit in Rochester, NY. The gift is unrestricted.
McQuaid Jesuit is a Catholic, Jesuit college-preparatory school that inspires young men in grades 6-12 to realize their God-given gifts through the pursuit of excellence in all things, service to others, and a lifelong commitment to justice. Its goal is to form, and transform, young men academically, spiritually, physically, and socially to build the competence and character they need to help them not just succeed, but exceed, in college and in life.
Nazareth University
B. Thomas Golisano Academic Complex
October 2003, Mr. Golisano donated $5 million to Nazareth College, a private college in Rochester, NY. The gift was the largest gift to the college by living donor and was used to help create the B. Thomas Golisano Academic Complex.
On September 17, Mr Golisano presented Nazareth witha gift of $5 million in unrestricted funding to Nazareth President Beth Paul.
Niagara University
In October 2008, Mr. Golisano committed $10 million to Niagara University to support construction of a new science building, the B. Thomas Golisano Center for Integrated Sciences, to radically alter the teaching and research environment at the university. It is the largest gift the institution has received in its 152-year history. This marks the first major gift Mr. Golisano has made in Western New York outside of the Rochester region.
On October 9, 2013 Niagara University formally dedicated the state-of-the-art, $33 million B. Thomas Golisano Center for Integrated Sciences facility, which opened to Niagara University faculty and students at the beginning of the fall 2013 semester and changes the scientific research and teaching that happens on the campus.
On September 17, 2024, Mr. Golisano presented Niagara University with an unrestricted gift of $10 million.
Our Lady of Mercy High School
In March 2006, Mr. Golisano gave $3 to Our Lady of Mercy High School. The gift represented the largest donation at the time ever received from an individual or family by the private school located in Rochester.

As such we are committed to the education of young women of all faiths and backgrounds.
Roberts Wesleyan University
In October 2001, Mr. Golisano made a $5 million contribution to Roberts Wesleyan College, the largest gift in the history of the small liberal arts college, located in Rochester, NY. The college used the funds to construct the B. Thomas Golisano Library and Information Resource Center.
On August 29, 2019 Tom Golisano announced that he was making a gift of $7.5 million to the college to build the innovative new Community Engagement Center. The 25,000-square-foot two-story, center will serve as a hub for connection, community interaction and student life resources, as well as a workplace for Roberts’ growing custom training and education programs.
On May 18, 2021, a Virtual Groundbreaking was held ground on the new Golisano Community Engagement Center. The center will be housed on the north side of the Roberts campus. Construction kicked off following the groundbreaking and is expected to take 14 months. The official grand opening for the Golisano Community Engagement Center is anticipated to happen in summer 2022 for the start of the 2022-23 academic year.
On January 23, 2023 the Golisano Community Engagement Center officially opened with a ribbon cuting ceremony. The new $13.9 million Center serves as a hub for connection, community interaction and student life resources on campus. The modern 26,167-square-foot, two-story center reflects Roberts Wesleyan’s deeply rooted spiritual and community ties, serving as the first building on campus to provide centralized space for both students and the community to gather and interact. Upon entering through the Parris Family Welcome Center, which includes a visual timeline of the institution’s storied 157-year history, the first floor encompasses 3,000 square feet of event space available for campus functions and rental opportunities.
On September 24, 2024, Mr. Golisano announced an unrestricted gift to Roberts Wesleyan of $5 million.
Rochester Institute of Technology
In February 2001, Tom Golisano made a $14 million gift to Rochester Institute of Technology, enabling that university to launch a new college that incorporates computing and the Internet with information sciences. This was the first-of-its-kind college created in the United States. Computing has been an integral part of RIT’s curriculum since 1972 with the launch of one of the first undergraduate computer science programs in the country. The new college, which joins RIT’s other seven colleges, will launch with bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in computer science, software engineering and information technology. The B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, named for its founding donor, officially opened in May 2003. It offers students opportunities to earn Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Mr. Golisano honorary chaired RIT’s capital campaign, “Powered by the Future.” He is also a trustee of RIT. The gift was the largest gift in RIT history from an individual and believed to be the largest given at the time to any university or college in the Rochester area. Golisano said, “I believe what RIT is doing by establishing this college is not only good for RIT, but it will be great for the entire Rochester community and upstate New York because it makes RIT and Rochester a national focal point in this type of education.”
In September 2007, Mr. Golisano donated $10 million to Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) to create the Golisano Institute for Sustainability. The Institute, one of the first of its kind in the nation, focuses on research and education in sustainable design, pollution prevention, re-manufacturing and alternative energy development. It offers the premiere platform for universities, corporations and governments around the globe to collaborate in the creation of innovative education and technology development systems related to sustainable design, life-cycle engineering, remanufacturing and pollution prevention. RIT also expects to become the first technological university to provide a full spectrum of career-focused, integrated and interdisciplinary programs that embody the principles of sustainability in product development. Golisano said, “It is imperative that we accelerate strategies to promote a sustainable society and ensure future generations the opportunity to address their own needs. For that reason, it is my desire for The Golisano Institute for Sustainability to produce the first generation of professionals with the vision and know-how to deliver on the promise of sustainability, and I am very proud to be associated with this exciting endeavor.”

On October 30, 2018, St. John Fisher College, Tom Golisano and the Golisano Foundation announced the creation of the Golisano Institute for Developmental Disability Nursing thanks to a $5.8 million gift, $5 million from Tom Golisano and $800,000 from the Golisano Foundation. The Institute will be fully integrated into Fisher’s Wegmans School of Nursing and is designed to transform the health care and support of individuals with developmental disabilities. On December 4, 2023, a second $5 million gift was announced from B. Thomas Golisano and the Golisano Foundation to support the continued growth and expansion of the Golisano Institute for Developmental Disability Nursing at St. John Fisher University’s Wegmans School of Nursing. EquiCenter

EquiCenter, Inc. at William and Mildred Levine Ranch is a non-profit organization on a 200-acre property in Honeoye Falls, NY. It is a premier accredited member of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH). EquiCenter has over 30 horses, and its Equine Programs serve over 190 participants per week. Over the past 20 years, it has added a wide range of offerings, including therapeutic horticulture on our organic-practice farm, farm-to-table cooking classes, mustang lessons, and many other equine and nature-based educational programs. Golisano Foundation
The Golisano Foundation is Tom Golisano’s largest ongoing initiative to help people with intellectual disabilities. The Foundation was founded in 1985 with an initial gift of $90,000 from Tom Golisano. Today, it is one of the largest private foundations in the United States devoted exclusively to supporting programs for people with intellectual disabilities. The Foundation has more than $120 million in gross assets and has awarded more than $41 million in grants to date. It awards about $3 to 5 million annually in grants, to non-profit organizations in Western and Rochester, NY region as and Southwest Florida that serve people with developmental disabilities.
Golisano Intellectual and Developmental Disability Institute
On June 13, 2024, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and civic leader Tom Golisano made a historic $50 million commitment, making it possible to build the Golisano Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Institute at the University of Rochester Medical Center. The new world-class transdisciplinary center will provide solutions to the health and quality of life issues that affect people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Those with IDD are a traditionally underserved population, with approximately 19,000 people affected locally, 120,000 regionally, and 200 million worldwide. Mr. Golisano’s transformational gift also names the Golisano Specialty Clinic at Eastman Dental Center, which serves nearly 2,000 people with IDD each year.
This gift is the largest single gift in University history and the largest single gift made by Mr. Golisano. Between his personal giving and his foundation, Golisano’s total philanthropy to the University of Rochester Medical Center now nears $100 million.
Golisano Autism Center
The Golisano Autism Center, a collaboration of Al Sigl Community of Agencies, AutismUp, CP Rochester, the Golisano Foundation and Tom Golisano, opened in 2018. It has expanded and enhanced autism services to serve the more than 10,000 people diagnosed with autism in the Greater Rochester and surrounding areas.
The 33,000 sq.ft. The Center is named for Tom Golisano, who announced on May 16, 2017, that he was making a matching challenge grant of $2.5 million to help build the Center. The Golisano Foundation also made a grant to the Center of $500,000.
The establishment of the Golisano Autism Center in Rochester has transformed the delivery of autism services by co-locating and coordinating resources offered by multiple autism providers, each of which, has specialized areas of expertise.

Golisano Center for Community Health at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center
The Golisano Center for Community Health is the only outpatient center of its type in Western New York and one of very few in the United States.
Dedicated in June 2016, the $7 million, two-story, 23,000-square-foot building was supported by a $3.5 million gift from Tom Golisano. The Center provides comprehensive integrated health care services to adults with special needs and their families, breaking down barriers to care and supporting the Tom Golisano and the Foundation’s vision of inclusive healthcare for all—ensuring that people with intellectual or developmental disabilities are in no way excluded from healthcare systems within their communities.

Golisano Center for Special Needs at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital
On September 27, 2019 in Syracuse, New York, The Upstate Foundation announced a gift of $3 million from Tom Golisano to establish the Golisano Center for Special Needs at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. The center will provide comprehensive, coordinated and scientifically based medical and behavioral care for children and adolescents with all types of intellectual and developmental disabilities. Golisano Life Enhancement Fund
In December 2013 Tom Golisano made a personal gift to establish the Golisano Life Enhancement Fund for individuals with disabilities in upstate NY to be administered through the Future Care Planning Community Pooled Trust. The Funds will provide financial assistance needed for items and other supports to enhance quality of life.
Golisano Pediatric Behavioral Health & Wellness Center
In October 2017, Tom Golisano announced his donation of $5 million toward this new center, which will open in 2019, will provide the greater Rochester community a new, critically-needed home base for child and adolescent behavioral health services. The new building will be the primary outpatient location for the children’s hospital’s Pediatric Behavioral Health & Wellness program, which treats children with depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance abuse, PTSD, and other behavioral and emotional conditions, and will be staffed by a multidisciplinary team that includes child psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, nurses, and more.
Golisano Training Center at Nazareth University
On September 21, 2016 Tom Golisano committed $7.5 million to Nazareth College for the new, 91,000 sq.ft. Golisano Training Center to create a model of inclusion, fitness & wellness. This was the largest gift the University had received. Groundbreaking for the Golisano Training Center took place June 14, 2018 and on October 21, 2019 the grand opening was celebrated.
The Center provides an indoor track, field, courts, and training facilities. The center is the first of its kind collaboration of inclusion, fitness, and wellness for athletes of all abilities. Nazareth is poised and ready to be a national model of “Wellness for All” as the only college or university that has ever developed an inclusive training center that levels the playing field for athletes of all abilities and ages.
Goodwill of Southwest Florida

Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida’s mission is to provide programs and services for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. It provides job training/placement, affordable housing, youth programs, and other needed services in Charlotte, Collier, Hendry/Glades, and Lee counties. Its programs are funded partially through our 38 Southwest Florida Retail & Donation Centers.

Heritage Christian Services, established in 1984, strives to advance an inclusive and equitable community. Tom Golisano has provided more than $67 million to Special Olympics to help create a world where people with intellectual disabilities have the same opportunities and access to health care as people without intellectual disabilities. Sunrise is one of the largest private 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations in the country dedicated to serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Much of the organization’s early growth can be attributed to assisting state agencies with deinstitutionalization efforts. In recent years, Sunrise has welcomed smaller companies in need of assistance or support into the Sunrise Group. As a result, over the last 50 years, Sunrise has increased the number of persons served from 50 people in just South Florida to over 2,000 across several states with over 3,000 exceptional employees.
The Haven

In June, 1999 Tom Golisano made the lead gift of $2 million in the Gathering Hearts Capital Campaign. Al Sigl Center is a shared resource organization supporting those with disabilities and their families.

Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida
On November 19, 2024, Tom Golisano announced an unrestricted gift of $2 million to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida.
Founded in 1981, the mission of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida (CAC) is to provide a coordinated response to child victims of abuse and neglect and improve the lives of at-risk children and their families through prevention services. CAC assesses, and treats children believed to have been physically or sexually abused or to be at risk of such abuse and provide a safe place for them to come and be heard. It offers abuse determination services as well as therapeutic counseling, parenting education, and prevention programs in Lee, Hendry, Glades, and Charlotte Counties.
It is one of the largest children’s advocacy centers in the state of Florida and the only one in the four-county area. CAC is accredited by the National Children’s Alliance.
Golisano Autism Center
The Golisano Autism Center Rochester, a collaboration of Al Sigl Community of Agencies, AutismUp, CP Rochester, the Golisano Foundation and Tom Golisano, opened in 2018. It has expanded and enhanced autism services to serve the more than 10,000 people diagnosed with autism in the Greater Rochester and surrounding areas. The 33,000 sq.ft. Center is named for Tom Golisano, who announced on May 16, 2017 that he was making a matching challenge grant of $2.5 million to help build the Center. The Golisano Foundation also made a grant to the Center of $500,000. The establishment of the Golisano Autism Center in Rochester has transformed the delivery of autism services by co-locating and coordinating resources offered by multiple autism providers, each of which, has specialized areas of expertise.

Golisano Center for Community Health at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center
The Golisano Center for Community Health is the only outpatient center of its type in Western New York and one of very few in the United States.
Dedicated in June 2016, the $7 million, two-story, 23,000-square-foot building was supported by a $3.5 million gift from Tom Golisano. The Center provides comprehensive integrated health care services to adults with special needs and their families, breaking down barriers to care and supporting the Tom Golisano and the Foundation’s vision of inclusive healthcare for all—ensuring that people with intellectual or developmental disabilities are in no way excluded from healthcare systems within their communities.

Golisano Center for Special Needs at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital
On September 27, 2019 in Syracuse, New York, The Upstate Foundation announced a gift of $3 million from Tom Golisano to establish the Golisano Center for Special Needs at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. The center will provide comprehensive, coordinated and scientifically based medical and behavioral care for children and adolescents with all types of intellectual and developmental disabilities. Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples
On November 19, 2024, Tom Golisano announced an unrestricted gift of $4 million to the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples. This was Mr. Golisano’s second major gift to the museum.
On May 3, 2010, the museum announced that Mr. Golisano was the lead donor to the C’mon Campaign, making a $5 million challenge grant to inspire other philanthropists to support the worthwhile campaign to complete the new Museum.
In recognition of his generosity, the Museum was named the “Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples. The museum opened in 2012.
The Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples (CMON) is a brain-building powerhouse and Southwest Florida’s first museum devoted to children and families. This safe and wonderful place inspires children and families to have fun while learning together. The two-story, 38,000-square-foot institution is filled with interactive exhibits, classrooms, and more! Developed by experts in child psychology, this experimental play fosters creativity, curiosity, empathy, and self-esteem.
Golisano Foundation
The Golisano Foundation is Tom Golisano’s largest ongoing initiative to help people with intellectual disabilities. The Foundation was founded in 1985 with an initial gift of $90,000 from Tom Golisano. Today, it is one of the largest private foundations in the United States devoted exclusively to supporting programs for people with intellectual disabilities. The Foundation has more than $120 million in gross assets and has awarded more than $41 million in grants to date. It awards about $3 to 5 million annually in grants, to non-profit organizations in Western and Rochester, NY region as and Southwest Florida that serve people with developmental disabilities.
Golisano Intellectual and Developmental Disability Institute
On June 13, 2024, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and civic leader Tom Golisano made a historic $50 million commitment, making it possible to build the Golisano Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Institute at the University of Rochester Medical Center. The new world-class transdisciplinary center will provide solutions to the health and quality of life issues that affect people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Those with IDD are a traditionally underserved population, with approximately 19,000 people affected locally, 120,000 regionally, and 200 million worldwide. Mr. Golisano’s transformational gift also names the Golisano Specialty Clinic at Eastman Dental Center, which serves nearly 2,000 people with IDD each year.
This gift is the largest single gift in University history and the largest single gift made by Mr. Golisano. Between his personal giving and his foundation, Golisano’s total philanthropy to the University of Rochester Medical Center now nears $100 million.
Golisano Life Enhancement Fund
In December 2013 Tom Golisano made a personal gift to establish the Golisano Life Enhancement Fund for individuals with disabilities in upstate NY to be administered through the Future Care Planning Community Pooled Trust. The Funds will provide financial assistance needed for items and other supports to enhance quality of life.
Special Olympics Health
Tom Golisano has provided more than $67 million to Special Olympics to help create a world where people with intellectual disabilities have the same opportunities and access to health care as people without intellectual disabilities. As the world’s largest public health organization for people with intellectual disabilities, Special Olympics is uniquely poised to address and improve the unmet health needs of people with intellectual disabilities. It is working to create a tipping point where health becomes inclusive for people with intellectual disabilities globally by changing curriculum, training health care professionals and policymakers, influencing policy, advocating for inclusive health programming, building partnerships for follow up care and harnessing the power of the Special Olympics Movement to build awareness.
In 2015, Tom’s gifts to Special Olympics Health were recognized as one of Philanthropy’s Big Bets for Social Change, a goal estimated by the Bridgespan Group that only 20% of philanthropic donations seek to achieve.
Golisano Pediatric Behavioral Health & Wellness Center
In October 2017, Tom Golisano announced his donation of $5 million toward this new center, which will open in 2019, will provide the greater Rochester community a new, critically-needed home base for child and adolescent behavioral health services. The new building will be the primary outpatient location for the children’s hospital’s Pediatric Behavioral Health & Wellness program, which treats children with depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance abuse, PTSD, and other behavioral and emotional conditions, and will be staffed by a multidisciplinary team that includes child psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, nurses, and more.
Golisano Training Center at Nazareth University
On September 21, 2016 Tom Golisano committed $7.5 million to Nazareth College for the new, 91,000 sq.ft. Golisano Training Center to create a model of inclusion, fitness & wellness. This was the largest gift the University had received. Groundbreaking for the Golisano Training Center took place June 14, 2018 and on October 21, 2019 the grand opening was celebrated.
The Center provides an indoor track, field, courts, and training facilities. The center is the first of its kind collaboration of inclusion, fitness, and wellness for athletes of all abilities. Nazareth is poised and ready to be a national model of “Wellness for All” as the only college or university that has ever developed an inclusive training center that levels the playing field for athletes of all abilities and ages.
Heritage Christian Services
In July of 2004, Mr. Golisano donated $1 million to Heritage Christian Services of Rochester, a human service agency supporting those with disabilities.

Hillside Family of Agencies
On September 17, 2024, Tom Golisano announced a gift of $5 million to Hillside Family of Agencies. The gift is unrestricted.

Founded in 1837, Hillside provides community-based services, education, and residential treatment to positively impact lives, in partnership with youth and families who have experienced trauma. In 2023, the agency provided services to nearly 9,000 youth, adults and families throughout Western and Central New York, as well as in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
Lifespan
On September 17, 2024, Mr. Golisano announced an unrestricted gift of $2 million to Lifespan.
Lifespan provides information, guidance and more than 30 services for older adults and caregivers in Monroe and surrounding Finger Lakes counties, NY.
Meals of Hope
On November 19, 2024, Mr. Golisano announced an unrestricted gift of $3 million to Meals of Hope in Southwest Florida.
Meals of Hope is a nonprofit organization 501(c)(3) that is committed to bringing people together to fight the hunger epidemic. Founded in 2007, Meals of Hope has packed over 80 million meals that have been donated to communities in need across the nation and around the world. By hosting meal-packing events across the country and operating 15 food pantries in Southwest Florida, Meals of Hope has a local and global reach. With over 30,000 volunteers and a staff of 18, Meals of Hope is only getting started in our efforts to end hunger once and for all.
Medical Motor Service
On September 17, 2024, Mr. Golisano announced an unrestricted gift of $2 million to Medical Motor Service of Rochester & Monroe County.
The organization provides specialized transportation for community organizations, as well as individuals with disabilities and special needs to improve their independence and quality of life.
Springbrook
In August 2007, Mr. Golisano made a gift of $2.5 million to Springbrook in Oneonta, NY, which provides support for children with developmental disabilities. The gift was part of the agency’s Coming Home Campaign and helped renovate and expand current facilities. The Tom Golisano Center for Autism, established in 2012 at Springbrook, focuses on helping children with autism communicate and learn.
On September 17, 2024, Mr. Golisano announced an unrestricted gift of $5 million to Springbrook. Springbrook CEO Patricia Kennedy said, “We are grateful to Tom for his generous gift. His generosity has helped the organization improve the lives of many children who come to the Golisano School program.”
Springbrook provides at-home care, residential and educational services, day services, and clinical, therapeutic, and behavioral support to more than 1,100 people with developmental disabilities across New York. The organization is Otsego County’s third-largest employer, with more than 1,300 employees.

AMI Pup Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization dedicated to caring for unwanted, abandoned dogs in our local shelters. AMI Pup Rescue saves homeless, neglected, abandoned, sick, injured, or abused animals from death row. It also find homes for dogs that have to be rehomed by their owners. It understands that sometimes life circumstances bring someone to a place that their fur friend might not be able to follow. Originally founded in 1958 by Gladys Schultz, the Beverly Animal Shelter is located in Waterloo, New York. Since Glady’s passing in 1991, the shelter was purchased and operated by Dallyn Jenkins, President of the Board of Directors. At that time the shelter was named after Jenkins own mother Beverly, an animal lover and Glady’s friend. In 2008, the Beverly Animal Shelter was designated a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. It is a no-kill facility.
Canine Castaways
Tom Golisano announced a $150,000 million unrestricted gift to the Canine Castawyas, Inc. in Southwest Florida.
Canine Castaways was founded in 2003 with the motto, “Saving one dog won’t change the world, but it will change the world for that dog.” Since then it has rescued over 2300 dogs. They know that there is a home out there for every dog we rescue, and they will wait patiently until it is found. They try very hard to place dogs in their “forever home”; however, there are times that things don’t work out. When they rescue a dog, they are committed to that dog for its entire life and will never hesitate to accept one of our castaways back into our care. The focus is on quality of care rather than the number of dogs saved. They work closely with a team of veterinarians to ensure each dog rescued receives the best medical care possible. If it’s needed, it’s done!

The Humane Society of Manatee County Florida is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit animal welfare organization that was originally formed in 1971 and today is considered the lead animal welfare agency in Manatee County. Humane Society of Manatee County operates a no-kill shelter, the Second Chance Adoption Center located at 2515 14th Street W., and a veterinary clinic / high volume spay and neuter clinic at 2415 14th Street W. in downtown Bradenton. Each year, the Second Chance Adoption Center rehomes more than 800 dogs and cats through our comprehensive rehabilitation and adoption program. Many of the animals that enter our adoption program are medically challenged or have behavioral challenges. Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue
On November 19, 2024, Tom Golisano announced an unrestricted gift of $500,000 to Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue.
Since 2008, Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue has been dedicated to helping neglected, abandoned, and mistreated dogs and cats in need of loving homes. It started as a small group of animal lovers working out of a garage until Nathan “Nate” Benderson, a local developer with an affinity for animals, caught wind of the group and joined. Nate provided the necessary vision and leadership to establish what is now known as Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue.
Today, together with a staff of caring volunteers and an incredibly supportive community, we save thousands of homeless and at-risk animals each year at our eight-acre, no-kill shelter and adoption facility on Lorraine Road.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization, it is proud to provide a place where homeless cats and dogs can receive the love and care they deserve while they wait to be welcomed into their forever homes.
Operation Freedom Ride

Operation Freedom Ride is a dog and cat adoption organization that is entirely foster-based. We rescue animals locally and also make trips to the South to transport them to NY from southern shelters to find homes. We rely entirely on donations to run and entirely on fosters to help us save animals.
Pawtcake Refuge
On November 19, 2024, Tom Golisano announced an unrestricted gift of $150,000 to Pawtcake Refuge in the Bahamas.
The Bahamas is home to thousands of sick, starving, and abused dogs. The voiceless souls roam the streets searching for food and water, never knowing when they will eat again. They often shy away from people, expecting to be abused because they endure so much of it regularly.
Pawtcafe Refuge is a haven for these wonderful dogs and gives them a chance to begin healing from the atrocities they’ve lived. We constantly search for dogs in need and respond to calls and messages about dogs requiring help. Its President and Founder, Chella, drives around Nassau every day to feed the homeless dogs. Dogs eventually get taken off the streets after she’s earned their trust to touch them. Once the dogs are in our care, they get fully vetted, vaccinated, and live at Pawtcake Refuge until medically cleared to travel to a partner rescue in the States.
Countless homeless dogs have left the streets of Nassau and are now enjoying life loved and cared for by their families. In the last four years, Pawtcake Refuge has rescued more than 5,000 dogs. Our mission continues to save as many dogs as we can and be the voice for the voiceless dogs of Nassau, Bahamas.

Rochester Emergency Veterinary Services

Rochester Emergency Veterinary Services opened in February 2024 as the area’s only emergency vet hospital and Rochester’s first nonprofit Emergency Veterinary Hospital.

Shy Wolf Sanctuary
On November 19, 2024, Tom Golisano announced a gift of $150,000 to the Shy Wolf Sanctuary in Naples, Florida.
The Shy Wolf Sanctuary Education and Experience Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1993 by Nancy and Kent Smith. They began taking in animals not accepted by government animal services, wildlife rehabilitators, or zoos. Their first rescue was a Black Asian Leopard, Moondance.
In 2001, Shy Wolf became a 501(c)3 charity with an independent board of directors and volunteers who have helped it grow to what it is today. Shy Wolf Sanctuary is a refuge for a cougar, numerous wolves, and wolfdogs, as well as several exotic species of fox from as far South as Brazil, as far North as the Arctic Circle, and West as North Africa. Other rescues also include Prairie Dogs, Florida Gopher Tortoises, Sugar Gliders, and a North American Bobcat. Shy Wolf Sanctuary is one of the few places permitted to care for the threatened Florida Gopher Tortoise.
To date, Shy Wolf has rescued over 1,260 animals and provided valuable educational experiences to tens of thousands of human visitors from around the world, all from a couple of acres behind the Smiths’ house.
Far more than rescue and sanctuary, Shy Wolf has been offering educational programs and therapeutic animal encounters for more than twenty years. Educational programs range from peacefully co-existing with wildlife to advocating for the animals that can’t speak for themselves. Additionally, Shy Wolf partners with local nonprofit organizations to provide hope and healing to at-risk youth through our Healing Hearts program.
SNIP Collier

SPCA Serving Allegany County

Founded in 1905, the Wyoming County SPCA is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the humane care of homeless dogs and cats in Wyoming County, NY. Its work includes finding loving homes for pets, ending pet overpopulation through spay/neuter efforts, and providing humane education opportunities for children and surrounding community members.
