How to Apply
Eligibility
- The requesting organization must be a 501(c)(3) organization within the designated geographic target region and whose programs meet the Golisano Foundation’s philanthropic priorities.
- The Golisano Foundation does not contribute to endowments, fund raising events or sponsorships, individuals requesting grants, medical research or municipal programs.
- The Golisano Foundation accepts requests for program support as well as capital projects. (Please call the Foundation for clarification)
- The Golisano Foundation accepts applications for single year funding and in certain circumstances will entertain multiyear funding requests as well.

Applications outside of our geographic target region or focus area of intellectual and developmental disabilities will not be considered.
Procedure
- Letter of Intent – LOI submission is required in the online grant portal to start the application process. LOI’s can be submitted at any time for review. Upon submission, the LOI will be reviewed and you will be contacted by staff at the Foundation within a few weeks with feedback. If completing a full application is suggested, at that time you will be given access in the online portal to the full application. Quarterly deadlines will be assigned depending on request volume and submission timing.
- Upon submission of the application, representatives from the Foundation will contact applicants with additional questions, if necessary. Site visits or meetings may be scheduled to discuss the application as part of the review process.
- Applicants will receive notice of funding decision within two weeks after the quarterly board meeting.
An invitation to submit an LOI or Proposal does not assure funding.
Timeline
Letters of Intent (LOI) are required to start the application process and can be submitted anytime through the Golisano Foundation online grant portal.
Once the LOI is reviewed, you will receive correspondence on the next steps of the process. If the LOI is approved, access to the complete application will be provided with an assigned due date.
Applications are considered quarterly at the January, April, July, and October board meetings. Submission deadlines for completed applicaitons will be assigned in the grant portal at the time of LOI approval.
Conditions
- If approved for a grant, applicants will receive award letter through the grant portal.
- Recipients will be required to sign a Grant Authorization Form (GAF).
- Each grant recipient will be required to submit a progress report, with a due date assigned based on the grant details.
